The Emotional Handbook for Partners
written by Michelle A. Hardwick

FAQs

Is this book medically accurate?

It is written by a qualified practitioner with over 25 years of private practice experience. It is not a medical textbook - and it doesn’t try to be. It is an evidence-informed, practical guide. For specific medical advice, always consult a GP or specialist.

What if she doesn’t know I’m reading it?

That’s fine. Many men read it quietly or listen to it quietly first. Some share it. Some use it without ever mentioning the book at all. What matters is what you do with what you learn.

What if she doesn’t want my help?

Menopause can make a woman feel like she wants to handle everything alone. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t need you. This book will help you understand the difference between backing off and backing up.

I’m not a big reader. Will I manage it?

Yes. It was written for real men, not academic ones. Short sections, clear language and no jargon. You can pick it up, put it down and still get value from every page. Michelle also has an audio book underway too (due in May 2026)

Can I buy it as a gift?

Absolutely. Many women do buy it for their partners. It’s one of the most loving things you can do for someone who loves you.

What if I’m going through this myself as well as supporting her?

Many men find that supporting a partner through menopause stirs up their own emotions, health concerns and sense of identity. This book acknowledges that. You matter in this too.

Is there support beyond the book?

Yes. Michelle offers one-to-one consultations for individuals and couples. See the About page for details.
